Declaration of Conformity (DoC)

Declaration of Conformity

A Declaration of Conformity (DoC) is the document by which a manufacturer (or its authorised representative) declares, under its sole responsibility, that a product conforms to the applicable technical regulations and harmonised standards. Under EU rules it is the EU Declaration of Conformity that underpins CE marking; equivalent declarations sit inside the Gulf G-Mark and other conformity schemes.

A DoC identifies the product, lists the directives or regulations it complies with, the standards applied, any Notified Body involved, and the name and signature of the responsible person. It must be kept available for market-surveillance authorities and is often required to accompany the goods or the customs file. A missing or mismatched DoC can block market access even when the product itself is compliant.

Why it matters

The Declaration of Conformity is the legal statement standing behind a conformity mark — the manufacturer putting its name to "this product meets the rules." Authorities and customs rely on it, so an accurate, complete DoC is what makes the CE or G-Mark on the product mean something.
