FOR LINER AGENCIES

Run the line's business as if the line were here.

A liner agency is the principal's face in the market: canvassing and quoting against the line's tariffs, taking bookings against its space, issuing B/Ls as agent, controlling its containers locally, collecting its freight — and settling it all in a statement the principal never has to question. WHIZTEC runs that whole cycle, per principal, fully segregated.

THE AGENCY REALITY

An agent's product is the principal's trust.

An agency earns its appointment by making a principal's business run in your market as if they were there themselves — and keeps it by reporting with numbers the principal never has to question. Every booking against their tariff, every container in your depots, every dollar of freight collected lands in a settlement statement that must reconcile to the line item. One messy statement costs more trust than a year of good service builds.

WHIZTEC was built inside this world. The platform records every agency transaction against the right principal from the moment it happens, so commissions, collections and container reports come out of the system — not out of month-end spreadsheet marathons.

THE LINER AGENCY CYCLE

From appointment to remittance.

1 · Appointment
Principal agreement — tariffs, commissions, territory, settlement terms.
2 · Canvass & Quote
Sales per trade lane, quotations against the principal's tariffs.
3 · Book & Document
Bookings against the line's space, B/L issue as agent, manifests.
4 · Container Control
The line's boxes locally — depots, interchanges, detention.
5 · Collect
Freight collected on the principal's behalf, applied against B/Ls.
6 · Settle & Report
Commission, collections, remittance — the principal statement.
THE MODULES

Every module a liner desk needs.

Principal & Agreement Management
Per-principal tariffs, commission structures, container pools, documentation rules and settlement calendars — fully segregated between principals.
Canvassing & Sales
Sales activity per trade lane, quotation against principal tariffs, customer allocation tracking and booking conversion analytics.
Bookings & B/L as Agent
Booking intake against the line's space, B/L issue on the principal's behalf, manifests, delivery orders and import documentation.
Local Container Control
The principal's equipment in your territory: depot stock via CODECO, interchanges, import detention tracking and line reporting.
Freight Collection & Remittance
Collect on the principal's behalf, apply against B/Ls, net local costs, compute commission and remit on schedule — line-item auditable.
Principal Portal
Lines see their bookings, containers, collections and statements live — the transparency that wins and keeps appointments.
EDI & Integration
EDIFACT to principals and ports, CODECO from depots, customs filings, and API/flat-file links to each principal's own systems.
Agency Finance & P&L
Commission revenue, pass-through costs and collections in one multi-currency ledger — P&L per principal and per desk.
EVERY AGENCY MODEL

However your liner desk is built.

Exclusive Liner Agents
One line, one territory — the classic representation mandate.
Multi-Line Agents
Several non-competing principals in one house, books segregated.
Hub / Regional Agents
Multi-country territories with sub-agents and consolidated books.
Feeder & SOC Desks
Feeder representation and shipper-owned-container programmes.
Agency + NVOCC Groups
Houses running own-BL consolidation beside representation.
Diversified Houses
Liner desk plus forwarding, clearance, depot or 3PL — one group view.
WHY LINER AGENCIES CHOOSE WHIZTEC

The statement your principal never questions.

Line-item principal settlement
Every commission, collection and cost traces to its transaction. Statements reconcile; disputes disappear.
Principals segregated by design
Competing lines in one house, each seeing only its own world — while management sees all desks.
Both sides of the agency table
The same platform serves lines managing agent networks — so portals, EDI and settlement match in both directions.
One house, one ledger
Liner desk, port desk, forwarding, depot — per-business P&L on one multi-currency ledger, not four systems.
ALSO AT THE PORT?

Many liner agents also serve the vessel.

If your house also attends port calls — berthing, husbandry, crew changes, PDA/FDA — that is a different business with its own cycle, and WHIZTEC covers it on its own solution while sharing your customer master and ledger. See Ship Agencies & Port Agents.

AI-AUGMENTED

An agency that answers before the principal asks.

WHIZAI reads the liner desk's own flow: it predicts import units trending toward detention before the line calls about them, reconciles collections against B/Ls automatically, flags bookings drifting from allocation, and keeps the principal statement continuously current — so the desk spends its time selling the line's service, not assembling reports. FREQUENTLY ASKED

Liner agency software, answered.

What software does a liner agency use?
Liner agency software runs a container line's business in an agent's territory: canvassing and quotation against the principal's tariffs, booking intake against the line's space, B/L issue on the principal's behalf, manifests, local container control, freight collection and the periodic principal settlement. WHIZCargo covers the full cycle, with each principal's tariffs, containers, documentation rules and books fully segregated.
What is the difference between a liner agency and a ship agency?
A liner agency represents a container line commercially in a market — it sells the line's services, takes bookings, issues B/Ls as agent, controls the line's containers locally and remits freight to the principal. A ship agency (port agent) serves a vessel's port call for any principal: berthing coordination, husbandry, crew changes and the disbursement account. They are different businesses with different cycles — WHIZTEC covers each on its own dedicated solution, and many agency houses run both.
How does principal settlement work for a liner agency?
Every booking, B/L and collection is recorded against the principal's tariff. The platform computes agency commission per the agreement, tracks freight collected on the principal's behalf, nets costs paid locally, and produces the periodic principal statement and remittance — auditable line by line. Disputes drop when the statement reconciles to the transaction level.
Can the system control the principal's containers locally?
Yes. Local equipment control per principal: depot stock, gate moves via CODECO from depots, import/export interchange, detention tracking and reporting back to the line — one of the most labour-intensive agency duties, automated.
Does it support multiple principals with separated books?
Yes. Each principal has its own tariffs, commission terms, container pool, documentation rules and settlement calendar. Their data is segregated — a line's competitor cannot be seen by another principal's team — while your agency management sees the whole house.
Can one agency group run liner agency, ship agency and forwarding together?
Yes — that is the classic Gulf/ISC agency house, and exactly what the platform is built for: the liner desk and the port desk alongside forwarding, clearance, depot or 3PL arms, sharing one customer master and one multi-currency ledger with per-business P&L.
