SASO (Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization)
SASO (Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization) is Saudi Arabia's national standards body. It sets the technical regulations and product standards that goods sold in the Kingdom must meet, and operates the SABER platform through which importers obtain the Certificates of Conformity required to bring regulated products into the country.
For regulated products, SASO compliance is a border requirement, not a formality: the goods must be certified to the applicable SASO technical regulation, evidenced by a Certificate of Conformity obtained through SABER, before they can clear customs. SASO therefore sits directly in the import path for a wide range of consumer and industrial goods.
SASO turns product safety into a clearance gate: without the right SASO conformity certificate, regulated goods simply do not clear Saudi customs. Knowing which SASO technical regulation applies to a product — and getting it certified via SABER before shipment — is what keeps regulated imports moving.
