PAXLST
PAXLST is the UN/EDIFACT message used to transmit passenger and crew information to border, customs and immigration authorities — the standard carrier of Advance Passenger Information (API). In air travel it lists the passengers and crew of a flight; in the maritime world it carries the ship's crew and passenger lists required at each port call under the IMO FAL Convention.
Each PAXLST record holds identity and travel-document data: name, date of birth, nationality, document number and type, and travel details. Authorities use it for advance security screening and immigration pre-clearance before the aircraft or vessel arrives. For ship operators, generating an accurate PAXLST (or the equivalent FAL crew list) is a routine but mandatory part of every port call.
PAXLST is how carriers meet advance passenger/crew reporting rules. For a ship operator it is the crew list every port expects before arrival; filing it accurately and on time avoids the clearance delays and fines that come with a rejected or late submission.
