OTIF

On-Time In-Full

OTIF (On-Time In-Full) measures the share of orders that arrive both on the promised date and complete, with nothing short or missing. It is one of the toughest and most honest service metrics because an order fails OTIF if it misses on either dimension — timing or completeness.

OTIF is widely used by retailers and manufacturers to hold suppliers accountable, often with financial penalties for shortfalls. Improving it usually means better forecasting, inventory positioning and transport reliability together.

Formula
OTIF % = (Orders delivered on-time AND in-full ÷ Total orders) × 100
On-time — delivered by the agreed date/window
In-full — complete — no shorts or missing lines
Because both conditions must be met, OTIF is always lower than on-time or in-full measured alone.

Frequently asked
Why is OTIF lower than on-time delivery?

Because an order must satisfy both conditions. An order that is on time but short still fails OTIF, so OTIF is always at or below the on-time rate.
