MPA (Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore)
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) is the statutory board that regulates, develops and promotes Singapore's port and maritime sector. Its remit spans port and navigational safety, vessel traffic management, the Singapore Registry of Ships, bunkering licensing and standards, and the growth of Singapore as an International Maritime Centre.
MPA is the regulator, distinct from PSA the terminal operator. It sets the rules that ships, agents, bunker suppliers and maritime service providers operate under in Singapore waters, and administers the licences and registrations that underpin the maritime cluster.
Almost every maritime activity in Singapore — registering a ship, supplying bunkers, moving through the Strait, running a shipping office — sits under an MPA licence, standard or approval. For ship owners, agents and service providers, MPA is the authority whose rules define what you can do and how.
Is MPA the same as PSA?
