LARTAS (Indonesia Restricted Goods)
LARTAS (Larangan dan Pembatasan — Prohibitions and Restrictions) is Indonesia's regime of goods that are prohibited or restricted for import or export, and that therefore require specific permits, licences or approvals from the relevant government agencies before they can clear customs. A very wide range of products falls under LARTAS — foods, drugs, chemicals, electronics, textiles, machinery and more — each tied to a controlling ministry or agency.
Because so many goods are subject to LARTAS, checking whether an item is restricted and securing the necessary permits in advance is a critical part of importing into Indonesia; missing permits mean cargo cannot be released and can be held or refused. The required permits are obtained and referenced through the Indonesia National Single Window and cited on the PIB declaration.
