Customs & Compliance 🇰🇪 Kenya

Kenya TradeNet (KenTrade)

Kenya TradeNet is Kenya's national electronic single window system for cross-border trade, operated by the Kenya Trade Network Agency (KenTrade). It lets traders submit their trade documents, declarations and permit applications once, to Customs (KRA) and the many other agencies (standards, health, agriculture and others) that regulate imports and exports.

Through TradeNet, importers and exporters obtain the required permits and the Import Declaration Form (IDF), and clearance is coordinated across agencies and linked to KRA's customs system. By integrating the permit and clearance processes, TradeNet aims to cut paperwork, cost and clearance time and improve transparency — important given the many approvals Kenyan trade requires and Kenya's role as a regional gateway. For traders and software integrating with Kenyan trade processes, connecting to and using TradeNet is central to obtaining permits and clearing goods. It is a key piece of the digital infrastructure of Kenyan (and East African) trade facilitation. It streamlines the many approvals behind Kenyan clearance.

Why it matters

Kenyan trade requires approvals from many agencies, and TradeNet is how traders get them and lodge declarations in one place, linked to KRA's customs system. It cuts the paperwork and time behind Kenya's permit-heavy clearance and its regional-gateway role, so integrating with TradeNet is central to any Kenya-facing trade operation.
