DELTA (French Customs System)

DELTA is the electronic customs clearance system of French Customs (DGDDI), through which import and export declarations are lodged and processed in France. It handles the customs declaration, duty and tax assessment, risk analysis and release of goods, and comes in variants for different flows (for example simplified and standard procedures).

DELTA connects traders, customs brokers and French Customs, enabling paperless, largely automated clearance with risk-based controls at France's ports and airports. It operates within the wider EU customs IT framework and alongside the reform that moved import VAT to the VAT return. For importers, exporters, forwarders and software integrating with French customs, DELTA is the system of record and the channel through which goods clear, so connecting to it and understanding its declaration workflows is central to trading in France. Comparable to national customs systems elsewhere (the Netherlands' systems, the UK's CDS, the US ACE), DELTA is the digital backbone of French customs clearance. It is essential infrastructure for French trade.
