Australian Trusted Trader (ATT)
Australian Trusted Trader (ATT) is Australia's Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programme, administered by the Australian Border Force. Businesses that demonstrate a secure supply chain and a strong compliance history are accredited as trusted traders and receive trade-facilitation benefits.
Benefits include streamlined and priority customs clearance, a dedicated account manager, duty deferral and consolidated reporting, and — importantly — access to Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRAs) with partner customs administrations, so an accredited business is recognised as low-risk at the border of partner countries too.
At the border, risk equals delay. Trusted Trader status flips a business from "inspect by default" to "facilitate by default", both in Australia and — through mutual recognition — in partner markets. For regular importers and exporters, accreditation converts directly into faster, more predictable clearance and lower holding costs.
Is Trusted Trader the same as AEO?
Yes — ATT is Australia's implementation of the international Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) concept.
What is a Mutual Recognition Arrangement?
An agreement under which two customs administrations recognise each other's trusted-trader accreditations, extending low-risk treatment across borders.
