Liner Agency
All principals · FY 2026 · AEDWhat is liner agency software?
Liner agency software runs the commercial and documentary work an agent performs for a shipping line — the principal — in a market: accepting bookings, issuing bills of lading, building and filing manifests, controlling container equipment, collecting freight and local charges, and reporting everything back to the line.
WHIZTEC delivers it on the WHIZCargo platform, so a liner agent runs bookings through documentation, container control and billing on one data model — and exchanges the full EDI stack (BAPLIE, COPRAR/COARRI, CUSCAR, freight settlement) with the line, terminals and customs.
For everyone who acts for a carrier.
From booking to principal statement.
Every function a liner agent runs — on one data model, no re-keying.
A generic system doesn't speak agency.
A liner agent stands between the market and the carrier, and every booking, container move and dollar has to reconcile back to the principal. Generic ERPs and spreadsheets cannot track equipment, calculate D&D, exchange BAPLIE and CUSCAR, or produce principal statements. WHIZCargo does — on one system, with the EDI built in.
- Native bill of lading, manifest and container-control workflows
- Full EDI to line, terminals and customs (EDIFACT & more)
- Demurrage & detention protecting the principal's equipment revenue
- Reconciled principal statements and remittances
Agency that protects revenue and reconciles itself.
WHIZAI reads and matches manifests and freight documents, predicts demurrage & detention exposure per container, flags unreconciled charges before the principal statement, and surfaces exceptions — so agents protect equipment revenue and close the books faster. Explore WHIZAI →
Liner agency questions
What is liner agency software?
Liner agency software runs the commercial and documentary work an agent performs on behalf of a shipping line (the principal) in a country or port: accepting bookings, issuing bills of lading, building and filing manifests, controlling container equipment, collecting freight and local charges, and reporting everything back to the line. It is the system that lets an agent represent a carrier end to end without the carrier having its own office in every market.
How is liner agency different from ship agency?
Liner agency is the cargo and commercial side — bookings, documentation, container control, freight billing and principal reporting for a container line. Ship agency is the vessel and port side — attending the ship in port, arranging pilotage, towage and berth, handling disbursements and crew. Many agents do both; WHIZTEC covers both on one platform.
Does it handle manifests and EDI to the principal?
Yes. It builds import and export manifests, files customs cargo reports (CUSCAR) where required, and exchanges the full EDI stack with the line and terminals — bookings, BAPLIE, COPRAR/COARRI and freight settlement — so the agent and principal stay reconciled automatically.
Can it manage container equipment and detention?
Yes. It tracks the line's container inventory in the market — allocation, release, gate-out/in, empty returns — and calculates demurrage and detention against free time, protecting the principal's equipment revenue and availability.
Does it reconcile freight and local charges for the principal?
Yes. It bills ocean freight and local charges, collects them, and produces the principal statements and remittances the line requires — with disbursement and outstanding tracking so nothing leaks between the agent and the carrier.
