FWB
FWB is the IATA Cargo-IMP message that transmits the complete data of a Master Air Waybill (MAWB) from the freight forwarder to the airline: shipper and consignee, airports of departure and destination, routing, pieces, weight, volume, nature of goods, rate and charge details, and handling information. The XML equivalent under Cargo-XML is XFWB.
The FWB is the message behind the e-AWB — sending an accurate FWB is what lets an airline accept a shipment electronically, with no paper original. It is the anchor record for the shipment: the FHL (house manifest) messages that follow are consolidated under the master AWB the FWB describes.
FWB is the electronic air waybill in message form — it is what makes paperless acceptance (e-AWB) possible. An accurate FWB means the airline's system accepts the booking directly; an incomplete one means the shipment falls back to paper and manual handling.
