COPRAR

Container Pre-Arrival Message

COPRAR is the UN/EDIFACT message a shipping line sends to a destination terminal to pre-announce container arrivals — typically 24-48 hours before vessel berthing. The message lists each container to be discharged: container number, ISO size/type, weight, hazardous goods status, port of loading, port of discharge, and onward routing.

The terminal uses COPRAR to plan yard allocation, crane scheduling, and customs handover. It is the operational counterpart of BAPLIE (which describes the stowage plan onboard the vessel) and works in conjunction with COARRI (the actual arrival confirmation after discharge).

COPRAR is published by SMDG (Shipping Message Design Group) and is universal across container terminals worldwide.
