AI Agent
An AI agent is software that is given a goal and works out the steps to reach it — using data and tools, taking actions, and adapting when something is unexpected. Unlike fixed automation (which follows set rules) or a chatbot (which answers questions), an agent pursues an objective across multiple steps.
In logistics today, agents are most credible as assisted automation: they handle the routine path end to end — drafting a customs document, matching an invoice — and escalate genuine exceptions to a person.

Frequently asked
Are AI agents fully autonomous?
In logistics, rarely — the credible model today is assisted automation, where the agent handles routine work and a human approves consequential actions and handles exceptions.
