Port of Marseille-Fos

The Port of Marseille-Fos is France's largest port by tonnage and its principal Mediterranean gateway, on the country's south coast. It combines the historic Marseille harbour with the large industrial Fos zone to the west, handling containers, crude oil and petroleum, LNG, chemicals, dry bulk and general cargo, and serving southern France, the Rhône corridor and beyond.

As a Mediterranean port, Marseille-Fos is well-placed for trade with North Africa, the Middle East and Asia via the Suez Canal, and competes with other Med gateways for transhipment and hinterland traffic into Europe. Its industrial-port role also makes it central to France's energy and petrochemical flows. Together with Le Havre (HAROPA) on the Channel, Marseille-Fos gives France two major complementary gateways — one Atlantic/Channel, one Mediterranean.
