Maritime & Ship Management 🇦🇪 UAE

Jebel Ali Port

Jebel Ali Port, operated by DP World, is the largest and busiest port in the Middle East and one of the world's biggest container terminals. Built around the world's largest man-made harbour, it is the main sea gateway for the UAE and a major transhipment hub connecting Asia, Europe, Africa and the Gulf.

Jebel Ali's scale, deep-water berths and integration with the adjacent JAFZA free zone and the Dubai Trade single window make it the anchor of Dubai's logistics economy. A very large share of its throughput is transhipment — cargo arriving on one vessel and leaving on another — reinforcing the UAE's role as a regional distribution centre.

Why it matters

Jebel Ali is to the Middle East what Singapore is to Southeast Asia — the port through which the region's trade flows. Its connectivity, capacity and the free zone beside it are why cargo for the whole Gulf, and much of Africa and South Asia, routes through Dubai.
