IFTMIN
IFTMIN is the UN/EDIFACT instruction message in the IFTM family — the electronic transport order a shipper or freight forwarder sends to a carrier to arrange the movement of a consignment. It carries the parties, the goods description, packages and weights, pickup and delivery locations, requested dates, and the routing and service required.
IFTMIN sits alongside the rest of the IFTM booking family: IFTMBF (firm booking), IFTMBC (booking confirmation) and IFTMCS (instruction contract status). Together they let forwarders and carriers exchange bookings and transport instructions without re-keying, which is where most manual freight errors come from.
IFTMIN is the digital transport order — it replaces the emailed booking form. Sending it as structured EDI means the carrier's system ingests the instruction directly, eliminating the re-keying that causes wrong addresses, missed pickups and mismatched weights.
