Direct Port Delivery (DPD)
Direct Port Delivery (DPD) is a trade-facilitation measure of Indian Customs that allows eligible importers to take delivery of their import containers directly from the port terminal, bypassing the Container Freight Station (CFS). By removing the CFS movement and its handling, DPD sharply reduces container dwell time and cost at the gateway port.
DPD is typically available to Authorised Economic Operators (AEO) and other high-volume, compliant importers who pre-clear their Bills of Entry so the container can be released and moved the moment it is discharged. It is a cornerstone of India's effort to cut port congestion and the time-and-cost of importing.
