CONTAINER DEPOT & TERMINAL SOFTWARE

Run the yard — gate to invoice.

One system for empty depots, CFS, ICDs and container yards: gate-in/gate-out with EIR, pre-advice and releases, yard stack planning, surveys and M&R estimates with line approvals, storage and service contracts, tariff-driven billing (cash at the gate or on account), and CODECO/COPRAR EDI to the lines. Built on WHIZCargo and in production at depot operators today.

THE DEPOT REALITY

A depot's margin lives at the gate.

A container depot earns in small, relentless increments — a lift here, a storage day there, a repair approved by the line, a reefer plugged in overnight, a wash, a PTI. Hundreds of gate moves a day, each one a condition decision, an EIR, and a billing event. Run this on registers and spreadsheets and three things happen: revenue leaks between the gate and the invoice, the lines lose confidence in your inventory reports, and nobody can say what is actually in the yard right now.

WHIZCargo's depot module was built against this reality with operators in production: every movement captured at the gate with evidence, every billable event priced from the tariff at the moment it happens, yard stock and dwell live on the dashboard, and the lines fed by EDI instead of end-of-day emails.

Everything a depot or yard operation needs.

Gate Operations & EIR
Gate-in/gate-out with condition capture, seals, photo evidence and instant EIR issue. Handheld-friendly for the gate lane; every move timestamped.
Pre-advice & Releases
Expected in-gates from lines and lessors, release orders for out-gates, validity checks and exception handling at the lane.
Yard Stock & Stack Planning
Live inventory by line, size/type and condition; stack and location planning; yard utilisation and dwell-time analytics per container.
Survey & Condition
On-arrival and on-hire/off-hire surveys with standard damage codes, photos and grading — the evidence trail lines and lessors expect.
M&R Estimates & Service Orders
Estimates from agreed labour/material rates, line and lessor approval flow, repair execution as service orders, and automatic invoicing of approved work.
Tariffs, Storage & Service Contracts
Per-customer tariffs: free days, storage slabs, handling, lift-on/lift-off, washing, PTI, reefer services. Contract customers on account; cash collected at the gate.
Reefer & Special Equipment
Plug-in/plug-out logging, temperature monitoring rounds, PTI scheduling and billing for reefers, tanks and special equipment.
Line EDI — CODECO / COPRAR
Automatic gate-move reporting to shipping lines and lessors, and instruction intake — the contractual backbone of depot agreements with major carriers.
Billing & Receivables
Every gate move, storage day and service priced at capture. Invoices, debit/credit notes, advances, cash receipts and receivables into the integrated ledger.
Dashboards & Reports
Gate activity, containers in yard, dwell time, utilisation, receipts and receivables — live for the yard manager and consolidated for the head office.

WHY OPERATORS CHOOSE WHIZTEC

From gate registers to a single yard truth.

Zero revenue leakage
Every lift, storage day, repair and service is priced from the tariff at the moment it happens — captured at the gate, not reconstructed at month-end.
Line-grade reporting
CODECO/COPRAR EDI and clean inventory reports are what win and keep depot contracts with major carriers and lessors.
Part of the WHIZCargo platform
Depot, CFS, customs, forwarding and finance share one customer master and one ledger — natural for operators who also forward, clear or consolidate.
Multi-yard, multi-currency
Run several facilities as one business: per-yard operations and P&L, consolidated group inventory and revenue.
AI-AUGMENTED

A yard that predicts dwell and prices every event.

WHIZAI reads the yard's own history: it forecasts in-gate/out-gate volumes so you staff the lanes right, flags containers trending into long dwell before they block stacks, spots under-billed activity against the tariff, and suggests M&R estimate lines from damage photos and past repairs — so the yard runs tighter and the invoice never misses a charge. FREQUENTLY ASKED

Container depot software, answered.

What is container depot software?
Container depot software runs the daily operation of an empty depot, CFS, ICD or container yard: gate-in/gate-out with EIR (Equipment Interchange Receipt), pre-advice and release bookings, yard stack planning, container surveys and M&R (maintenance and repair) estimates, storage and service contracts, tariff-based billing, and EDI reporting to shipping lines (CODECO, COPRAR). WHIZTEC delivers all of this as a WHIZCargo module, in production at depot and yard operators today.
How does gate-in / gate-out work?
A truck arrives against a pre-advice or booking; the gate clerk (or a handheld) records the container, seal and condition with photos, and the system issues the EIR on the spot. Gate-out validates the release order, collects any cash charges at the gate, and closes the interchange. Every movement is timestamped, so yard stock, dwell time and billing are always live.
Can it handle M&R estimates and line approvals?
Yes. Damage recorded at survey becomes an M&R estimate using standard damage/repair codes and agreed labour and material rates. Estimates go to the line or lessor for approval, work is executed as service orders, and approved repairs are invoiced automatically — with the full photo evidence trail attached.
How is storage and handling billed?
Through per-customer tariffs and contracts: free days, storage-day slabs, lift-on/lift-off, handling, reefer plug-in and monitoring, washing, PTI, repairs and ancillary services. Contract customers accrue to account; cash customers pay at the gate. Every billable event is captured at the moment it happens, so no revenue leaks between the yard and the invoice.
Does it report to shipping lines via EDI?
Yes. Gate movements generate CODECO messages to the lines and lessors automatically, and load/discharge instructions arrive via COPRAR. Lines see their inventory in your yard without spreadsheets, which is often a contractual requirement to win depot business from major carriers.
Can one system run multiple yards or depots?
Yes. Multi-yard, multi-currency and multi-entity are native: each facility runs its own gates, stacks and tariffs, while the head office sees consolidated inventory, revenue and utilisation. Per-yard P&L comes from the same integrated finance ledger as the rest of WHIZCargo.
Does it work for CFS and ICD operations, not just empty depots?
Yes. The same platform covers CFS stuffing/de-stuffing with cargo-level inventory, bonded storage, ICD/dry-port container handling with rail/truck coordination, and customs integration through WHIZCargo's customs module — one system from the gate to the declaration.
How fast can a depot go live?
Small and mid-size depots typically go live in 4-8 weeks: configure tariffs and contracts, load customer and fleet masters, connect line EDI, train the gate and yard teams. Larger multi-yard rollouts are phased per facility.
